Running Time: 20 minutes

I found this episode buried on a disk somewhere. Apparently I recorded the various parts, edited it, filed it, but never actually published it. Very strange. If I had to guess, I would say it’s about a year and a half old. Because of this, the audio quality isn’t the best quality in all cases.

In This Episode:

Processing Computer – In an attempt to free up my main computer from doing background tasks, I started to build "helper" computers that could run various background tasks. Raw Processing, Video Encoding….. you get the idea. Simply moving the time and processor intensive tasks somewhere else, so I can continue working.

Pace Your Training – Basically, it’s about "Just in Time" learning. Stop wasting your time learning about Puppet Warp, when you know full well, you will not be using it any time soon. Focus on what you already know, and build from there.

Poor Tutorials Suck – This was recorded around the time I created the 2-hour Masking Video (that red icon, on the right). For the first time, I saw what could actually be taught, when a well thought out plan was followed. Rather than random videos on various topics, the entire thing had beginning, middle, and end. It was build-up of information. This goes back to the other topic of Pacing Yourself.

Saying No to Paid Work – Saying no to clients is the hardest thing to do. You want to keep them happy. But, have you considered if they make YOU happy? My career is filled with difficult to please people. The harder I try to please them, the more they want from me. You need to break the cycle, and set expectations.
