Behind The Retouching | Camera RAW to Finished Project

Behind The Retouching | Camera RAW to Finished Project

This video is available with Free Membership.
Running Time: 26 minutes

For Photoshop Creative Magazine #125, they wanted me to show what Portrait Retouching is all about. There are many different styles for portraits. Depending on what you’re working on—Studio, Beauty, or Fashion pieces—you can apply darker shades, be more gritty, use bright and soft edges, or go to town with more creative approaches. Basically, your style depends on the effect that you want your final image to have. In this photo, we’re going for a Camera RAW to Finished Project, Beauty Portrait tutorial. This means that I have to make the image model look flawless, but realistic.

Main topics covered in this video:

1. Benefits of using Smart Objects and Smart Filters for retouching
2. Importance of non-destructive workflow in photo editing
3. Utilizing High Pass Sharpening for enhancing image details
4. Using Portraiture for skin retouching and softening
5. Techniques for adjusting exposure, highlights, shadows, clarity, and saturation in Camera Raw
6. The power of Smart Objects in retaining access to the original Raw file
7. Applying dodge and burn techniques for skin retouching
8. Using Unsharp Mask for adding detail to specific areas of the image
9. Incorporating textures into images for added interest and depth
10. The importance of maintaining flexibility and control throughout the retouching process.
