Photoshop Retouching Newsletter August 18, 2015

November 19, 2015 by John Ross

I would like to welcome all the new subscribers to this Newsletter. You can find tons of great links below for all kinds of worthwhile videos and articles from all over, that will help build your retouching skills.

As for me, I haven’t sent one of these out in a long time. I’ve just been crazy busy. Have you seen the new issue of Advanced Photoshop Magazine #138? I was thrilled to find out that I had the Front Cover, a Featured Article on Natural Beauty Retouching, and even a Personal Interview.

I was on the Front Cover a few months ago for Beauty Retouching, and nearly every other month for the past year, I had a new article inside. I was also in Photoshop Creative, also for Beauty Retouching. If you are interested in Beauty Photography and Retouching, skip to the bottom, I have something special to offer my newsletter list.

Photoshop Disasters
I absolutely LOVE this website. I have it feed it’s articles into my mobile phone, this way I don’t miss anything. And neither does it’s community, apparently. Some Fails are obvious, some require a trained eye. For what it’s worth, I never could figure out what was really wrong with the Jurassic World poster, besides nit-picking.

Gritty, Grungy Retouching in Photoshop
While I had never seen this guy before. I am shocked, because as I wander around his website, he has a million products and videos, so it’s clear he has been around for a while. I thought he had a fairly clean training approach. He uses tools that I do not, like Topaz and Nik for filter effects. I figure, if you get the look you want, then why not?

Phlearn
Ah Phlearn, I really could just sent out a Newsletter linking to all of your material, and make my life easy. But this time, rather than the usual How-To videos, let’s give a shout out to some of the interesting Interviews.

Larry Jordan?
While there is a TON of information here, I am not quite sure why he (or anyone) is expected to shell out $20/mo for this service.

When places like SkillFeed.com are available at the same price (and include MY videos).

Even Better, SkillShare.com cost even less and .99ยข, and STILL carries many of my videos classes. Check out Emergency Retouching for many other low cost video classes and courses.

Head Replacement
Here is an easy way to swap easy heads in group photos. Whenever I need to do it though, it’s never quite this easy.

Extracting Soft Edges
Just a simple collection of some inspiring composite illustrations.

Create A Beautiful Abstract Portrait
Follow along with this complex, yet highly detailed design and retouch. I am always in awe of artists that can do creative stuff like this. I just lack whatever vision it takes to even visualize something like this.
