Photo Manipulation in Adobe Photoshop for Beginners
As a beginner with Photoshop, it can be easy to become lost, or otherwise confused on what steps would be best to try next. Should you start with contrast, color, or noise removal? No matter what kind of photo manipulation you’re doing, your basic steps should always be the same:
1. You should start by going to Image - Mode - 16 Bits/Channel.
2. Create a new empty layer, and begin Spotting it.
3. To adjust the contrast, use the Levels Palette to give the image dynamic range.
4. With either Variations, Selective Color Palette or Curves Palette, to make color corrections.
5. By using the Hue and Saturation Palette, you can give the color some pop.

You have the Clone Stamp Tool, Spot Healing Brush, Healing Brush, and Patch Tool. Once you get those under your belt, there are more advanced tools that you can use, like Content Aware, and Vanishing Point. Let's take a look at these in some detail.

Question:
I was trained at length in photo retouching by a high-end photographer. I am looking to further a career in retouching and would like to ask what you look for in a retoucher: Is there a certification or classes you require before you hire a retoucher? Can you please offer any advice on training and how I might go about finding work in retouching?

Adobe Photoshop Color Correction Tools
There are so many ways to alter the color of an image in Photoshop. In fact, there are so many different ways, it's easy to simply just give up trying new ones, and just stick with what you know. In truth, I can't really argue with that. Just to name a few, there are Curves, Vibrance, Saturation and Hue, color balance, Variations, and Channel Mixer. Then, when you want to remove color, you have desaturate, black and white, and grayscale. If your feeling lucky, you can go with Auto Color or Auto Tone. Whew... but despite all those tools I just named, I didn't even tell you about my favorite one of them all.
