Photoshop Retouching Newsletter August 27, 2013

September 2, 2013 by John Ross

Could you do something for me? It would HUGE. A professional goal I have had in the past year is to teach a course at CreativeLive. If I could do that, opportunities would be endless for me. But I need your help desperately.

If you could take the next 2 minutes to click on the link, and recommend me as a guest trainer, it could change my life. Seriously, you have that power. It's a short form that would require little more than giving them my name John Ross, Click "Other", Topics could be Retouching, Portraits, Basic and Intermediate Photoshop, etc. My website is TheArtofRetouching.com, and let them know about any of the pay products you may have purchased me.

If you could do that, it would mean the world to me.

Digital Fundamentals - Color Spaces and Color Profiles

This video is available Free for Everyone.
Running Time: 8 minutes

This is an Adobe Photoshop Video tutorial that explains Color Models, Color Modes, Color Spaces, and Color Profiles. This is one of the modules from the Photoshop Basic 1 Video Course. I thought this video was a good example of the course content overall. It's a little bit dry, but I hope you find that it gets right to the point, and educates in a clear, and easy to understand way.

Photoshop Retouching Newsletter August 1, 2013

Hello Reader,

This week's big revelation for me was getting a chance to experiment with Photoshop CC new Camera Shake Plugin. For a 1st generation, I think it is pretty successful. I fed it like 5 images, and it adequately corrected 2 of them. Doesn't sound great, but when you consider I could not save any of them a month ago, that's not bad.

Here are some more of the more interesting articles I came across this week:

Photoshop CC: Shake Reduction, and how it works
Last year, Adobe announced Shake Reduction, and I immediately thought of these images of my wife and I, from about 25 years ago. I have been waiting for technology to come, that may actually save these images. Now that CC has Shake Reduction, I can tell you that while results will vary, I was overall impressed. Here are some articles about

Photoshop Retouching Newsletter July 26, 2013

Hello Reader,

Photoshop CS6 and now CC have really changed the way I work on my images. Once I was able to walk away from the the "same old routine", and start experimenting, my art has become so much better than it used to be. I have gained greater flexibility, and higher degree of "light sculpting" my subjects.

This is newsletter update of what's been going on around the internet lately. Since Photoshop CC was released less than a month ago, there have been a ton of new articles released. Here are a few of them:
