Adobe Photoshop Basic Class
The Art of Retouching
Now that you’re no longer that wide-eyed rookie who came in when the course first started, I am officially welcoming you to the real world of retouching. This is the final and longest of the classes, and it pulls together all the loose information you have been learning over the entire course.
You already know your way around, so we’ll spend the entire class reviewing and correcting several images from beginning to end. This will allow you to see how I am able to solve one problem after another in a real world way. We’ll spot what’s wrong in a photo, and retouch it to perfection. Afterwards, you’ll be able to spread your wings and fly—the retouching world awaits!
Retouching Basics and Beyond
Have you tried teaching yourself Photoshop image retouching skills, but always find yourself more confused than when you began? Are you convinced that you’ll never learn, that it’s just too difficult, and that you should just give up? If so, here’s how my course can help you succeed:
Adobe Photoshop Basic Class
Class Time: 2 Hours 30 Minutes
Retouching Images Class Notes
There are no additional class notes for the course. Everything shown in this section is simply using tools and techniques previously shown in earlier classes. The only difference is that the concepts are now placed in a linear fashion, so that the flow of making the corrections will make much more sense to you.
Retouching Images Homework
You are now empowered to go forth, and retouch all your own images. You need nothing more than practice. However, several of the images covered in this course, were previously given as homework for other classes. It is important that you understand how these were corrected. This is because the topics will come up over and over again in your own images.
Retouching Images Class – Video
This is where we review one image after another. You will soon realize that all I really do is repeat the same steps and tools over and over again. After this class, you will no longer have problems using Adobe Photoshop ever again.
Evaluation – This is an introduction to what you should be looking for in your images, before you begin correcting them.
Image 1 – While we cover color and tonal changes, this image is used primarily to demonstrate cloning and healing techniques.
Image 1 – This is the second part, of the first image.
Image 2 – This second image will cover how to correct blown out whites, and otherwise try to balance the tonal range of an over exposed image.
Image 3 – This third image will put together tonal and color adjustments, as well as cloning and how to handle a color cast. Light masking is included.
Image 4 – This fourth image will correct a common problem where the forground and background tonal range needs to be flipped around.
Image 4 – Now out of Camera Raw, we continue tone, color and cloning in Photoshop. This is also your first official introduction to portrait retouching techniques.
Image 5 – This fifth image focuses on lens distortions, transformations, and complex cloning with object removal. Students hate this image as homework, but love to see the solutions to the problems.
Image 6 – This final image involves flipping around the forground and backgound tones, color adjustments, blowouts, cloning, masking, and portrait retouching. Everything can be found here.
Image 6 – By the time you finish this video, you will have had a complete course on Photoshop Basics. If you make it all the way through the course, your images will never be the same.
Conclusion – Time to decompress, and relax. You now know everything about Photoshop and Image Retouching. Not. Curious about what new topics can be in store for you to learn next? Check out this final course video, and see what is coming up in the Basic 2 Course.
