A few weeks ago, we put together a fashion photo shoot with two models. It was picked up by a magazine for their next issue. We are also doing a Christmas shoot next week for an upcoming holiday issue. That magazine is in Australia, from what I understand. (A wave to all the Australians that will be reading this) I will give you more information once I know more. I am usually kept in the dark over things like this.
I finally finished my Basic Video Course that I was working on forever. You can read more about it below. I am also uploading it to Udemy.com which seems to be another pretty cool place that everyone should check out. For me, they had very few restrictions on what I could, and could not post as my own course. So, that was huge for me, as other places I have found so far wanted creative input or other rights to the content.
Photoshop Touch 2013 Review
Touch is Adobe's App built for iPad and Android Tablets. I've never tried it, as it's all or nothing for me. But, Digital Arts did a pretty complete review of it, if you have any interest.
Mystic Lady Photo Manipulation
I am including this one because the artist creating this in the most mind-numbing and complicated way possible. Invert, High Pass, Smart Filter Blending Options, and Variations are all mushed together. And that was all just the first few steps. I found it good for a giggle. I dont even think it looks particular good.
Portrait Retouching in Camera Raw
This is a PeachPit video that gives an 8 minute tutorial on some basic Camera Raw functions. I really need to find more useful items like this one. Most of the stuff we come across is too artistic for my taste.
32-Bit Filters now in Photoshop CC v14.1
Not sure if I mentioned last time, but the new v14.1 added 32-Bit support for all the filters that had been missing once you left 8-bit mode. Finally. I have been waiting years to "Twirl" and "ZigZag" in a Bit Depth that otherwise brings my computer to it's knees anyway. We can't get a decent White Balance, but we can "Mezzotint" with perfect tonal range. C'mon Adobe. Quit screwing around.
Photoshop Perfection – Basic Retouching for Photographers
I have finally, and officially, completed my Photoshop Basic Video Course that had become a bottomless pit of my time for the past 7 months. I simply can not believe anyone actually would spend this much time on a single project. Actually, they probably don't. I guess that is difference between what I created, and everything else that is out there.
Photoshop CC and ACR for 32-Bit HDR
I just taught a class on Camera Raw and HDR last week. I intentionally skipped over the Photoshop built in items because the results are weak, compared to other options available like NIK HDR Effex Pro. But, if you would like to see what is possible in Photoshop itself, then read on.
Photoshop CC v14.1 Updates
Here is a Detailed PDF that goes over all the great new features in this months release. I mean, none are great for me. I think it's mostly all crap. But I know someone will love it, most designers. My biggest complain is the new Assests from Layers feature. Basically, you can name a layer "layer1.jpg" and another "layer2.png" it will literally save a jpg of one layer, and a png of another layer. That's great an all, but we still cant make a simple roll-over without the need for Dreamweaver and hand coding it. But on the up-side, Color Range and Shake Reduction have been updated.
