I am currently without a car, which is the first time in 26 years! After the first day's panic of "What am I going to do now?!" I simply came to the realization that I work from home, and have little need to go anywhere during the hours my wife is not here. So, I am sucking it up, and making an effort to remain free from that added monthly expense. I'll see how that goes.
This past Saturday I finished up with my Basic 2 students, and I can honestly say I had a ton of fun teaching that course. Students that keep me thinking (and teaching me a thing or two) really make this such an engaging experience for me. I am starting the Intermediate Course this Saturday March 1st, so check it out if you are interested.
4 Women React to Being Cover Models
Here is worth 2 minutes of your time. It has 4 "normal" women pose in a professional shoot with a professional retoucher. While I get the concept, I would say that the retoucher did excess work to make each woman look excessively "fake", when he did not need to. This of course leads to the women's reactions. Personally, I am well versed in female anatomy, and where that "fake" line is drawn. But technicalities aside, it was interesting none-the-less.
Magical Photo Manipulation
This video is at 350% speed, and complex compositing. So only watch if you are an advanced Photoshop user. But, I found it interesting anyway to watch someone else work, and the details he took time to work on.
Here is a slightly different usage for combining multiple images. If it was yet another landscape I might not mention it. At the very least, i thought it was a great picture.
These people charge $45/mo for their website membership. $45. Per. Month. If every person who reads this sentence were to send me $45/mo, I would do nothing else but create videos all day long. I could host private mentoring classes all month long. It would be awesome.
While half kidding, if this does sound like something of interest, reply to this email. I had played with this idea a year ago, but everyone I asked said they had enough expenses per month. But hey, you never know. I have many students now with many different needs.
How to Replace a Sky in Photoshop
I get this question asked all the time. So, I will send you over to Aaron at Phlearn, and he can help you out.
Photoshop 14.2.1 Update
As predicted, Creative Cloud has turned Photoshop into publicly released Beta (if not Alpha) software. Small army of bug fixes in this release. It may just be me, but it seems like most of them are related to all the new filters and features they have released in the past 3 months. Hmm…
16 Photoshop Tutorials
Everyone seems to like these multi-video links. This is the only one this week though. Sorry guys.
Linked Smart Objects
I am having a hard enough time trying to get everyone to understand Smart Objects in general, and Julianne comes along with this complex, and dangerous, new feature in Photoshop. While I get the idea, I doubt I would ever use it because, quite honestly, the holes for making a mistake are too high. You may forget what is linked where, and a month from now, completely break something else.
Photoshop Intermediate Starts Saturday
Leave basic Photoshop behind, and get started on Composites, HDR, Advanced Masking, and other complex Image Retouching.
